Introduction
Organisations fund digital, data and restructuring programmes that overlap, duplicate applications and lock in technical debt, because nobody holds a shared view of how capabilities, processes, data and systems fit together. Enterprise architecture provides that view, but many architecture teams produce diagrams that decision-makers never use. This Core Concept course applies the TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition and the ArchiMate 3.2 modelling language to real planning decisions, from capability mapping to transition roadmaps and architecture governance. Participants leave with an Architecture Roadmap Pack for a change initiative in their own organisation.
Course Objectives
- Assess an organisation's architecture maturity and stakeholder concerns using ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010 viewpoints and a capability maturity scorecard
- Apply the TOGAF Architecture Development Method and Content Framework to scope and structure an architecture engagement
- Model baseline and target architectures across business, data, application and technology domains in ArchiMate 3.2
- Build business capability maps and application rationalisation decisions that link investment to business outcomes
- Run gap analysis, architecture compliance reviews and decision records that control risk and technical debt
- Produce an Architecture Roadmap Pack that a steering committee can approve and fund
