Introduction
Public entities in Saudi Arabia are measured against the National Data Management Office (NDMO) standards and the National Data Index, yet many still lack clear data ownership, working policies and the evidence an assessment requires. Governance then exists on paper while data quality, sharing and protection problems persist. This Core Concept course equips managers to set up data governance that meets the NDMO controls and works in practice, using DAMA-DMBOK and ISO governance principles alongside the national requirements. Participants apply each method to case material and leave with an NDMO Data Governance Implementation Plan for their own entity.
Course Objectives
- Assess an entity's current data governance maturity against the NDMO domains and the National Data Index
- Interpret the NDMO controls, specifications and National Data Governance Policies and relate them to DAMA-DMBOK and ISO/IEC 38505-1
- Design a data governance operating model with council, data owners, stewards and custodians defined in a RACI matrix
- Draft data governance policies, a business glossary and data quality rules that satisfy the relevant NDMO specifications
- Compile NDMO compliance evidence and manage the governance risks and sharing requests that most often cause findings
- Produce an NDMO Data Governance Implementation Plan with a prioritised compliance roadmap
