Introduction
Many organisations run innovation as a string of campaigns, hackathons and pilots that depend on a few enthusiasts and fade when budgets tighten. Without a system, promising work has no route to funding, results never reach the business and leadership cannot see what innovation returns. This Core Concept course shows managers how to build an organisational innovation system anchored in ISO 56001, with an innovation lab as its operating engine. Using cases from several sectors, participants produce an Innovation System Blueprint covering strategy, lab operating model, governance, process and measures.
Course Objectives
- Assess an organisation's current innovation capability and climate using structured diagnostic tools
- Structure an innovation management system against the clauses of ISO 56001 and the guidance in ISO 56002
- Define an innovation strategy and ambition that directs where the lab spends effort and budget
- Design an innovation lab operating model covering mandate, team roles, environment, process and interfaces with the business
- Establish governance, funding, risk controls and performance measures that keep the system credible with leadership
- Produce an Innovation System Blueprint ready for leadership review
